The match ball for the 60th anniversary European Championship tournament is called Uniforia ball. It has been designed by adidas. The symbolism behind the design of the ball is the celebration of different cultures that Euro 2020 (2021) will bring together. The Uniform ball displays black brush-stroke lines mixed with flashes of brighter colours demonstrating the message that the football is made for everyone.

Did you know that for the first time in history a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) will be implemented in the UEFA European championship. It will ensure better accuracy in the judgment process.

Italy


Italy hosted the competition twice, in 1968 and 1980. The first time it hosted it, was also the time in which it won the European Championship. Recently it played the final, losing it in 2000 against France and in 2012 against Spain. In 1980 and 1988 instead arrived only to the semi-finals, losing them.

France


France is the country that hosted the UEFA EURO the most, three times in 1960, 1984 and 2016. 1984 is also the first year in which it won the competition, the next and last time was in 2000. It arrived in a second-place only in 2016 against Portugal, and it lost the semi-finals in 1960 and 1996.

Spain


Together with Germany, Spain is the country that won the competition the most, for an amount of 3 times (1964, 2008, 2012), and arrived at the second place once in 1984, losing against France. It hosted the competition only once in 1964 and it won that same edition.

Belgium


Belgium hosted the competition twice, in 1972 and 2000, the second time it hosted it together with the Netherlands. It never won the European Championship, but in 1980 it arrived second, and in 1972 it lost in the semi-finals.

Germany


West Germany first, and just Germany later, is the most winning country in the competition together with Spain, it gained 3 titles in 1972, 1980 and 1996, against in order Soviet Union, Belgium and the Czech Republic. It also reached three times the second places in 1976, 1992 and 2008 and it stopped three times on the semi-finals (1988, 2012, 2016).

Sweden


Sweden hosted the competition in 1992, and that’s also the year in which it arrived at the semi-finals, it never went further in the European Championship.

England


England never arrived further than the semi-finals in the UEFA European Championship, reached in 1968 and 1996. In 1996 it was also the host of the competition.

Netherlands


The Netherlands hosted only the 2000 edition of the European Championship, together with Belgium. It won it once in 1988, and it often arrived at the semi-finals, in 1976, 1992, 2000, 2004.

Portugal


The year in which Portugal won second place in the UEFA European Championship is the year in which it also hosted it (2004). It only won one title, the one of the last edition (2016), so Portugal is the current European champion. It lost in the semi-finals stage three times, in 1984, 2000, 2012.
