Getting Group Standings * Standings are only available in the advanced package.UEFA Europa League is an annual European football competition organised by UEFA. It is the second tier football competition ranked just below UEFA Champions League.
The number of country’s football clubs that can access Europa League is decided by the country’s
position on the UEFA ranking. Joining the competition is based, both on the club’s domestic
finish in the previous national league and the victory on the nation’s main cup competition,
with exceptions for some countries.
The competition is divided into 12 groups of four teams. The top high ranked teams of each group
and the eight third-placed ones which leave the UEFA Champions League group stage, go to the
round of 32 of UEFA Europa League. The rest of the knockout stages are played in two rounds,
except for the final. The UEFA Europa League winner goes to the next season's UEFA Champions
League group stage qualifications.
On September 20th of 2018, UEFA Europa League 2018-19 starts and the final will be played on the
29th of May 2019 at the Baku Olympic Stadium in Azerbaijan. The final will decide which of the
48 clubs can take the trophy, home.
Last year’s winner was Atlético de Madrid, thanks to the victory against Olympique de Marseille.
Together with Juventus, Inter and Liverpool, Atlético de Madrid shares the second place in number
of Europa League finals won (3). The team that has the most wins of Europa League finals is Sevilla,
with five victories.
